    Default 2003 2.0 DTI Thermostat.

    Hi,
Im having problems with my vectra 2003 2.0 DTI not getting up to temperature and seems to have become quite thirsty on the fuel when motorway driving as it never gets hot so im assuming the T'stat is stuck open,
it gets a little bit warm when driving in town but drops again as soon as you get on longer stretches.

Im wondering If I have to buy the housing complete with thermostat inside it which is £50+ from dealers , or can I just purchase the thermostat (£12) on its own then twist the old one out and put the new one in?

Hopefully the housing will come off and the thermostat will be able to be changed inside like the older vauxhalls but Im not sure if this is the case anymore.

Any help on this would be great! Thanks.

I went down the route of attempting to change the stat only, but gave up, mainly due to it being a very important part of the cooling system, and if it ever stuck shut shut I'ld be in some trouble. Ended up having to get the complete housing, played my face at the price and got it for £42 including vat.

MPG gone up from 34 to 42 so can't be long before it pays for its self, at the 500 miles per month I'm doing.
