faded paint ?

I'm picking up a run around shortly and its never to my knowledge had much attention to the paint work but isn't that bad apart from! its the usual faded red vauxhall color! Not over the top but it is faded!, what products and type should i use to bring it back up to scratch ?,

I'd go with autoglym paint restorer, or t cut if you're feeling brave, then a colour polish to cover any defects, followed by Autglym super resin polish or one of the Meguiars range.
Could wax it after, but that would look ok.

as above the autoglym paint rejuvinator/renovator and then super resin polish afterwards - stay away from tcut - you could end up with a nice undercoated coloured car if you rub just a little too hard

iirc halfords are still doing 3 for 2 on all cleaning products so get some buffing materials as well and your sorted

sonus do a hand polish kit, never tried it so can't comment but sonus are very good products. you could try the megs ultimate compound by hand its a good product.
dodo juice waxe's are fantastic
machine polishing will get far better results, why not look at getting a D.A kit, easy to use and generally safe, far better results will be achieved rather than by hand. Dodo the British Manufacturer.

I have done t-cutting by hand YEARS ago but havnt done anything since so didnt know if there was better products to use now!, autoglym stuff going cheap at sainsburys i hear ? atm so will have a peep as ours is very close to halfrauds (3 for 2).

To really improve the finish, not just to make it 'slightly better' you will need a DA polisher, thats what I would advice for someone new to these machines, as a rotery needs real practice to perfect, also they build up heat much more quickly and you can find yourself in a real mess real quick.

For really making a difference you need slightly abrasive polishes, im not talking G3 compound, and certainly not T-cut, even a product quite low on abrasives applied by machine would make a vast improvement.

My honest advice if you are serious about making a difference to the finish would be invest in a DA polisher and do some research on the correct polishes and pads to go with, Vauxhall paint is generally soft - medium so you could end of with hologramming after removing the 'dead' paint (faded) if you go at it with too harsher polish and pads, which won't be nessessary.

A 3M (yellow) polishing pad with Menzerna final finish applied by DA will make a huge inprovement.

All that was in my local sainsbury's was turtle wax. Still I picked up a bottle of the Autoglym shampoo and a couple of wool mits while I was there
