Default Speed Cameras in Space on Test in UK

Sorry if it is a repost

Just read about the new speed cameras that are on test in the UK that track your speed from space WTF

Why don't they use the technology and put restrictors in cars that reduces the car speed to the specific speed limit you are in, instead of making money out of the technology? because that is what it is all leading to!

All this means is that the motorist that can be traced, ie has insurance, mot, car tax and has a V5 will be forced off the road if they speed. Those without any of the afore mentioned items can carry on as normal. Something wrong there............

This is that GPS tracking thing I heard about some years ago..... Except back then they were going to use GPS trackers fitted to your car to record location and speed data for uploading at MOT stations, resulting in all your speeding fines in one go.

Now where did I put those schematics for that Russian designed GPS jammer............. Oh here it is

I apologise in advance if your Tom Tom stops working when a certain grey Vectra is within 50 meters of you!!

Spot On Reply! Easy targets spring to mind! once the councils get their teeth into this we will be in-undated with them!

Where i live in Warrington we have a road called Long Lane and about six months ago it had the speed limit reduced to 20mph! no problem with that if it helps reduce accidents!

What got my back up is they have fitted hidden speed cameras during the night to reduce detection of the work being carried out

The road is approx 1.5 mile long have you tried driving at 20mph over that distance? thats where the cruise control will come in handy

If you've done nothing wrong, what have you got to be worried about?

And SPEEDING isn't a crime? At the very least it's not big & it's not clever!

Unfortunately no speed camera system will catch the dangerous drivers who overtake inappropriately and drive in a manner which puts many in danger IF they don't speed. Only more bobbies on the beat will help to tackle that type of driver.

Just my opinion, some may agree, some may disagree, that's your right.

Oh & Sky & The Independent got it wrong, as usual! Cars are not tracked from space with GPS with the Spike cameras, they are tracked by the cameras which are linked via GPRS. GPS is Global Positioning System using satellites, GPRS is General Packet Radio Service using the mobile phone network. Quite a difference!
