    Default GPS signal

    Anyone else notice there signal dropping out a lot more than usual mines normally green all the time but driving along and its droping to yellow quite a bit even with clear sky's ? thought it might have something to do with the ash ?

    thats because the Satellites are old and in need of replacing

    NASA are planning to replace them but it will take time.

    GPS is the American version and is free to use the europeans have a similair version (cant remember name ) but you have to pay to use theirs.

    YES! I've been wondering this over the past few weeks, I use my iPhone for SatNav so was blaming that. Also wondered if my new windscreen was causing problems or something. Glad I'm not the only one!

    I think it's possibly related to Sun activity or something rather than ash.

    Yep. Is it not about 30 years old now?! Gonna cost a lot to fix, I think every company that uses the GPS network should contribute!

    I think the European Space Agency are talking of putting up their own system so we don't have to rely on the yanks since they could switch it off at any time they choose.
