    Default Dealer service

Took my car in for annual service the other day and low and behold over- filled the damn thing, every time they do this the oil level is 5-10mm over the Max' and that's checking it when at operating temp' and after about 10-15mins, dealers can't even get something as basic as that right, what a state to get into eh!! Grrr..... how many others of you get the same issue?
    Cheers Pete

I only use dealers as a last resort. Had too many bad experiences with them. Once found out that they allowed an trainee technician to work on something he was not actual trained on with no support. The whole job was done solely by him. Yes, he did the job but that is besides the point.

I'll only use an independent garage or do it myself.

I do all that myself as I do not trust the dealers for the reasons you have stated above..

oh right.. did not get a service book with mine, so no real point in starting one, never really held much value in them before though.. Its a dealer thing for creaming your wallet imho..

Your car is 7 years old
Personally, once a car is over 5 years old don't bother with dealerships
The service book is only of benefit if the car is going to hold its value, which the Vectra doesn't, or the car has a very low mileage and needs to prove it has been serviced

This is what I was thinking mate, next year I probably won't bother.

Do you know how they drain the oil out?

Suction method? Maybe they don't extract *all* the old oil before putting back in the specified amount.

They should however take a dipstick reading before handing you back the keys.

No idea mate, probably rushing the job as usual and not checking properly, tried extracting some at lunch with the electric pump I've got, however that's making a load of noise and not sucking up, so looks like I will have to drop the sump plug and drain some out that way.
    Cheers Pete
