    Exclamation Cdti boost gauge

Hi guys I need help asap I am fitting my boost gauge tomoro and on a tight budget so can't spend any more cash especially 20quid on a self sealing take off adaptor for the rubber boost pipe so my question is I have the t piece which I have sealed off the spare end with super glue and I was goin to put I tiny hole in the rubber boost pipe that goes into the inlet manifold on my 150cdti then push in tight the t piece and seal in with sealent will this be ok

Or do I drill a small hole on the plastic boost pipe from te intercooler and push in the t piece and seal it there with glue I need help I can only do these 2 options so much apreciate a quick opinion I know it's not ideal but that's the way it is lol.

If you can help asap thanks

It needs to be sealed or you will lose boost and could give you an error. In the past I have drilled and tapped the pipe and put a metal fitting in and used permabond or PTFE tape. Then fit 6mm silicone pipe (I use airline from work) which is a push fit into the fitting into the manifold. The feed it to the gauge.

Boost gauge can be bought for anything from a fiver upto £30, most will come as a kit if not you need some tubing (Either airline or even the tubing you get on a fish tank for the air supply which will cost you about £1 a metre)

Gauge just shows how much boost you are pulling thats it a nice little toy unless its a performance car then it is quite useful

Hi guys fitted my boost gauge I used a 0.9mm welder tip I then drilled this out to 2.0mm I then drilled a 5mm hole on the plastic boost pipe just before the rubber one that goes into the manifold and screwed the welder tip in it was a very tight fit then sealed with loctite330 I fed the vacuum pipe through the steering linkage gaitor then up to the dash where my pod and gauge is mounted I used the ignition live feed the black wire from the light switch and earth was the bolt holding in the dash so it lights ip now with ignition on. I will take some pics and post up here soon all works good but the gauge does buzz loud when on boost how can i eliminate this

I am getting 27psi spike and settles at about 24psi on max boost

just the annoying buzz sound now could I cable tie the vacuum pipe to restrict it to stop the buzz

Yeah diesels run alot biter my mates 300bhp cossie is running about 18psi peak

it's very straight forward to do guys as long as you have the right tools it took me start to finish about 1hour and 30mins most time was spent drilling through the welding tip to get the 2mm hole for the take off from the boost pipe.

If any one wants to know how do do this I will write up a step by step and can private message anyone with a cdti to tell them how or if you live close I can show you mine the gauge and pod holder with extra tube and some welding ops cost me all on all 26quid but I would advise getting a remote electrical gauge as the buzz is a bit annoying but working out how to cure this

I will get a few pics tonite and post them up for you guys thank for all the advice
