    Default 3.0 panel filter question

I pick up an 04 Signum 3.0 elite on Saturday and while I'm not disappointed by any means in how the engine sounds I'm well aware better induction can make them sound better still.

It's my first diesel though, so I'm unsure what difference it will make, if any. I seem to be seeing performance panel filters for around £40 but is it worth it?

Any detrimental effects I might notice? And are they as easy to fit as the manufacturers make out?

You'd have to oil and clean the filter at each service, but the biggest issue can be the oil going into the mass air flow sensor.

You make it sound like it's not worth it... I'm not 100 per cent sold on the idea yet. There are plenty of other things I could spend £40 on.

You won't notice much of a gain in performance or noise. Spend the 40 quid on diesel instead

better off buying genuine VXL filter on a regular basis. I think they are about £12 ish.

I fitted a K&N to my 3.0. Not worth it IMHO. I sold the filter within a couple of months.

    I say no.

I had one in my diesel and it wasn't nice at all.

I done the air box mod That I picked up on off another thread. The car does seem to be more eager. so I'm also thinking about changing the filter. They say the K&N filters are the way to go and they are good for 50k miles between cleaning????? just Clean and re-oil. If its done properly there should be no problems.

Stands to reason more air = bigger bang! More power even if its just a slight increase, I dunno.
I'm pretty much in the same boat as you at the mo. but i think I'll give it a go.
