Default when do you change gear?

i want to get people advice on this one,

i have a 2.0dti and i want to know when people change gear when it hits a certain rev, reason i ask is i always drive in high gear but low revs as poss about 1500rpm i change but ive noticed when i take it up to 2000rpm so the turbo kick in i seem to get more mpg, when the best time to change gear for best mpg?

I would say 2000rpm as its mid torque. Also cruising at 2000 rpm gives the best fuel consumption for me. 2.2dti sri

I usually hang on until the rev limiter cuts in, even when its cold, warms the car up quicker

only kidding, usually I change at 3k, I find that gives me a decent return

When I'm driving "normally" I change at 2000rpm, cruising at about 1800rpm (20mph in 2nd, 30mph in 3rd, 40mph in 4th etc etc) when driving "spiritedly" I change after the turbo calms down (about 3000rpm) I have the 1.9 CDTi 150bhp

Same engine, I tend to change around 2500rpm.

This is a really good question. Without hi-jacking the thread, can I ask where people change in a 3.0 diesel?

Just after the turbo kicks in I think is the general recommended rule so between 1800 and 2000.

In the 3ltr just go from 1st to 6th at about 2500 rpm :-)
