    Default Reving when overtaking

Hi there, i was wondering if anyone has encountered a problem like this one. My vectra 1.9.150 sri drives fine on motorway town etc and has done for a while but a recent trip up north involved some overtaking which has never been a problem but as i was puting my foot down to overtake the rev counter was in the red and i was going nowhere fast so had to pull back and it happened again when i tried to overtake again, overtaking is ok if you do it gently but if you try a swift manouvore it wont let you.
I had the flywheel replaced last month, dont know if thats related,
    ANY IDEAS, CHEERS

Sound very like a slipping clutch. The reason for that is it is obviously worn therefore not creating the proper pressure on the plate, and not binding tightly. When you accelerate the engine revs increase, but the drive speed does not because of the wear in the clutch friction plate.
I would have thought the plate should have been renewed at the same time, as this fault often occurs after having had the flywheel replaced.
I hope that helps you understand the problem, and why it is happening.

Think you can test by sticking it in 5th/6th at about 20mph, if the revs rise quickly clutch is fubar. Plenty of advice on the web for testing the clutch.

    I had this too
It was typically happening after long spells of driving at a constant speed, say 20 minutes at 50 to 60mph
However, it was very intermittent and only happened about once every six to eight weeks
I reported it several times but it would never happen during a visit to the dealership

However the clutch eventually gave up a few weeks before the warranty expired
There is a Field Remedy that covers this

You could just compensate for it and drive around everywhere accelerating slowly like I did with my Chrysler Neon one hot summer... worked a treat... til the Engine took no more and the radiator blew right outside the big cashier window at Tesco... never lived it down :P Tip from the top... Get it fixed lol.
