Default What size is the Glow plug Socket?

    Hi All
I have the Spanner in the car light, that comes on just after starting and stays on for about 30 secs when cold. Once engine is warm I get no light. I have followed many of your threads and have come to the conclusion that after draining the Diesel filter, it MUST be a faulty GLOW PLUG. I have sourced a set on Fleabay for £20 and will be changing them this weekend. I just need to know what size socket, and any other tools do I need?
    Thanks..............

I have the same problem, just visited my vauxhall techy friend and he says if the car is starting try to put up with the light as they can sometimes either snap or take the threads out with them. He even said if you take it to a dealer they will find the one at fault and will change it, but if it snaps or damages the thread you will get charged to fix it...........so i am goin t put up with the light....lol

    Further to previous post.

I took the car to a mate who owns a garage this evening and the computer said that it was a glow plug! He said, as posted above, if I can live with the light, then leave the car alone. He used to work at a VX dealership and said that even the techies at VX would only get a 70% strike rate when taking out the old plugs. In this country you don't really need the plugs as they only operate at +1 degree c. If only one is not working the engine will fire and within a few seconds the dodgy pot will fire. Apparently the diesel is compressed in the VX engine to 32000 psi! This is more than enough to ignite it in normal conditions. Yes I know that the glow plug light illuminates every morning, it's just that we don't really need it! This guy let the computer check ALL of my systems and the only other fault it found was a bulb out in the center clock display, impressive eh! So he gave me TWO great bits of news, one, my car is ok and two he didn't charge me for the test. I hope this helps other people suffering with the same problem. BTW I now have a set of glow plugs for sale, any offers?
