    Default 2.2 Dti limp mode

    Hi,

I have a 2.2 Dti 2003, owned it for a few years now and the other day I was coming up a slip road building up speed in 3rd i floored it and just before it hit 3000rpm there was a jolt and the car/spanner came on the dash and it went into safety get you home mode! i pulled over and turned engine off for a minute and all was fine!

This did happen a few times when i first bought the car but I had it into VX for something else and they said the did a recall turbo calibration??!! (thought it was strange they were offering to do stuff for free! they also did my handbrake!) The car did pull much better after that and did not do the limp mode thing for 18 months!

    Any ideas please?

Thanks, I will give it a try, I was thinkin that maybe the senors where cleaned by VX and thats why it has not happened in so long! i am not going to spend the money on it unless it does it regular.
Have tried the how2 on reading codes without reader but would dos not work on mine!

Could be the small vacumm hoses you need to check them all very carefully for any splits also maybe worth taking the boost sensor out and giving it a clean.

they go into limp mode usuallt cos there isnt enough air bein put into the engine,, vacum pipes, boost sensor, split turbo hoses, poss egr valve, rarely the handbrake switch causes the ecu to freak out, try vacum pipes first tho

Definatly check the vacuum pipes. Its a pretty common fault on the 2.0 and 2.2dti's. If you decide the change them check out this thread I strated a while back. Easy to replace all pipes for £6.
