    Default Duel Fuel

    Duel Fuel

I did a quick search and it seems that only a few owners have this type, and couldnít find any discussion, so sorry if this topic has been covered.

I have had a couple of vectra bís and just stepped up to a C, so far I am realy happy with this car, just wish I had done this long ago.

I am straightening out a couple of defects and getting the car up to immaculate condition again and so for any lpg experts/owners I have a few questions.

1/ The gauge on the lpg seems to stick on full for the first 120 miles after a fill up and then drops rapidly, is this normal or does the tank need purging or the fuel sensor is faulty? Iím getting just about 50literes on a fill up.

2/ Is there a lpg specialist that anyone has used or recommends in the SW London area? So I can get a service and any filters changed?

    Thanks in advance Sam

Not a duel feul, but i've just done 70 miles in my CDTi without the needle moving from full, i think its to do with the over fill in the tank filler neck. Not sure if this would be a factor in LPG.

Are there any recommended garages that specalise in lpg, the local dealer said that they no longer have a license to work on lpg and they suggested Vauxhall at Byfleet. Has anyone used them?

No, because it is a pressurised storage system
Two of the garages I operate have LPG and it is a NIGHTHMARE to manage
Unlike petrol and diesel where we know roughly what the volume in the tanks is, we don't get that with LPG
Unlike petrol and diesel deliveries which are gravity fed, the LPG has to be pressure fed into the tank, as a result of which the temperature changes

Thankfully BP don't charge for the exact amount of LPG on a delivery
The tank is taken to 80% capacity and the difference in pressure is measured
Once the tank is down to 20% capacity no more can be delivered to the pump (to prevent the risk of explosion)

Anyway, is duel fuel where you fight on the forecourt for the right to the pump?
