Default Correct oil for the Z32Se

    Hi

What oil should I use in my motor its the z32se from the Vectra C ? Currently using Total QUARTZ 9000 5W-40 , the car seems to be using oil but it is not smoking at all so we are thinking that its because we are using the wrong oil . What is the normal oil consumption on these motors ?

    Thank You

Mines running 5w30 but IMO 5w40 would be fine. Mine only uses oil if pushed hard, however all engines are different. Some use oil, some don't.

Try a different brand, maybe the GM 10w40 semi synthetic.

Was told it would use more oil when pused hard , I dont do that quite as often as I did . Just checked under the car seems to be some oil around the pulley of the sump , we had it off when we did the cam belt change . Had a leak on the front where the oil level warning sensor is , sealed that up and used a high heat grey silicon on the rest of the sump . Thinking that it might be the front crankshaft seal thats leaking maybe its just sweating. Will first try another brand like the GM one , just needed to know what oil will be safe for the motor .

    Thanks for the help guys

Was thinking that maybe the oil cooler is on its way out since there is like a brownish sediment in the coolant bottle . Read somewhere that the z32se had a steel oil cooler where as the c25xe had a aluminium one . There is no bubbles in the tank with the car running , and im fairly sure that if it was the oil cooler there would be a "mayo" like substance in the coolant bottle like I had when the c25xe cooler failed on me . Oil that was drained when we did the timing belt was black . So I dont think its the oil cooler thats causing me to loose oil .
