load index help?

the alloys i'm trying on the car at the moment are wrapped in nankang ns1's @ 215/45 r 17 87v, i need to know if that load rating is too low, its a 2.0 dti estate, is the load index per corner ie 545kg for each corner. these wheels have come off an omega if that helps,

Factory fit 18 inch Bridgestone run 95 side load. 19 inch Contis run 91 side load. Not sure on 17 inch NCT 5's. I was advised by both Goodyear and Michelin not to run 87Y on my 19's as it was below what Vauxhall originally specified and may not be safe.
Like you say, 545Kg per corner for 87 loading. Veccys are around 1500Kg model dependant. Then you have to consider passengers, fuel and extra load in boot. Then the increased load on one corner which would increase quite dispreportionatly if you break heavilly into a corner.

my 17s are 95 load,not sure if there original though.

I just looked on Mytyres and the 215/50R17 is a 91 load index. If that is factory fit I would not advise anything less based on 19's having 91 and 18's having 95.

and 17's? that index is for a car over 2 tons corner to corner is it not? i'm no expert, but i dont think my car will ever be that heavy

I'm thinking these figures may take into account the loads when the car is driven at speed. Also not having the correct load spcified by the manufacturer may invaditate your insurance.
