    Question Air Con Not Working???

    Hi Guys,

Because of the hot weather the last few days i've been trying to use my air con for the first time. I got the car in January and obviously haven't had the weather to need it until recently.

The cold air comes on but its not really really cold even at the coldest setting with the cooling button on

When I turn the cooling button ON and OFF there is no difference to the air coming out of the fan outlets.

In my last Vectra and my Astra before that when the cooling button was pressed the air was freezing!

Any ideas what could be wrong?

    Thanks,
    Joe.

Best bet you have a leak in the system ... most commonly in a system that gets regular use, holed condenser..... easy enough to change yourself then take to local KwikFit and have them bung it on their machine to pressure test then re-gas.

This morning I had a complete air con service at home for £70 - seems to be a good job & better that risking letting the Kwik Fit monkeys loose on my car - anyone interested here's a link - The company's based in Southport but they have franchises round the country, I have his mob number if you want it

Hi are Kwik Fit really bad for this particular service i've read horror stories on other things, but just see a review from happy recent customers on an idependent site on there air-con service/recharge. The people recomended the service saying it was just a case of connecting 2 pipes then all the info went into the machine and was done via that so there monkey staff(well some of them) could do no damage?? £25 at the moment too on offer.

You need to use it all year round to keep it in good condition - as per the manuals advice - about 20mins a month.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Had the same problem myself. Took it to my local stealer who have an offer for an air-con service + regassing (£60). Now blowing out nice chilled air again.

Just need the warm weather to return!

According to the link I posted an air con service comprises:-

    1. Initial system test - Vent temperatures and gauge pressures are checked against recommended levels. A refrigerant identifier is used at this stage to verify system content.
    2. Recovery of system refrigerant - This is recovered and weighed
    3. Checking of system and related components - This includes drive belts, pipes and hoses, evaporator drain tube, pollen filter, condenser and electrics.
    4. Check heater and control flap operations
    5. Replace compressor oil and replace drier if required
    6. System evacuation - A vacuum is applied to remove moisture and air, which can damage the system.
    7. Charging - Recommended gas and oil charges are added following thorough leak checking. Give your car air conditioning the service it needs; enjoy cool, fresh air every day every journey.
