Default If ever there was an excuse, "The wrong kind of sky"

I really thought a colleague was having a laugh, to text me that they could not get to work this morning

"Job has had to be cancelled
Unable to get flight due to the Volcano in Iceland
Airline advises it's wrong kind of sky"

So if anyone is expecting to fly from an airport in Scotland within the next 48 hours they can forget it!

    Sent a text back
"Enjoy the sunset this evening and the dawn in the morning, it's about all that you will see from the airport"

Yep its the volcanic ash, it can sieze the engines happened a while back all 4 engines siezed.

''In 1989, a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing 747 flew into an ash cloud from Alaska's Redoubt volcano and lost all power, dropping from 25,000 feet to 12,000 feet (7,500 meters to 3,600) before the crew could get the engines restarted. The plane landed safely.''

Must have been a scarey time for the people on board!

Today the Whole UK is grounded (ALL AIRPORTS!)

So glad we decided to stay at home this weekend now!! Never had a flight delayed at all when we've flown since I was little and glad this weekend wasn't my first time either!

even worse if you are abroad trying to get home, at least if you are hear you can go back home. Apparently the UK airspace will remain closed until at least 18:00

Better not be, been advised it is :
    Scotland only
Any and all UK flights in and out of UK airspace

A member of staff has managed to complete a UK flight today, or at least I've not been advised they couldn't get a flight and can't get back home!
I was already aware of this and changed their travel arrangements; a flight to Birmingham and then a hire car
