    Default GID-CID question

I've been trawling through the forums looking for info on changing the GID to a CID, a task which a few have done successfully. But I am a little confused with the technicalities. From what I can make out, there are 02 - 04.5 cars which are half cam bus and 04.5 onwards full can bus. Some CID's work only with certain head units, some are paired, some aren't, and I think most or all need to be reprogrammed with a Tech2 unit!?

Now, I don't know off hand what head unit is in my C as I don't get the car until Monday, but I'm hoping that isn't an issue here as my plan is to replace the original stereo with a pioneer double din DVD/MM unit so I'm not bothered about having radio information on the dash display but I do want to use a CID and feed an a/v signal to it from both the head unit and a rear facing camera. My Vectra is a 1.8 Elite on a 52 plate so half can bus.

Can anyone tell me if a CID will work on half can bus systems and will there be an issue with my removing the OEM stereo? I do know the car has controls for the current GIF display on the wiper stalk but I'm not familiar with the operation of the displays features so are they the only controls or is the stereo integral to everything?

Sorry in advance if these questions sound dumb, I read other threads and how2's but cant get a clear understanding if what I want to do is possible.

You car is Half can so you have to have a CID from a NCDC Radio these will cost you anything from £200 to £350 you might have to buy the complete lot though to get one eg:radio/CID as some dealers don't like splitting.
There is a video out lead you can buy i will look for the link and post it up later

And take a look at Kenp's how to on fitting a NCDC Radio

FOUND IT http://www.migrosser.de.vu/ its the same for the Astra G exept you dont solder the 3 prongs as the vectra CID dont have them €130 for that, then i was all so told i would need a composite lead http://shop.conexx-video.de/artikel_...al---Ntsc.html

    Default Thanks Bigmac

My german is non existant but at least I now know it can be done so I'll see what I can do about getting some translation done as the first link looks like text only, although I did get an invitation to chat to "Holly22". I think she wanted to be rude!

I'll have a look at the How2 you suggested and see what I can find by way of a screen on sale. I would think Vauxhall would still stock them, bet they're not cheap though!

Not surprised that the stealers are expensive, wasn't expecting that much though. I wouldn't mind if it was for something extraordinary but I can buy a 50 inch hd lcd with freeview tuner for half their price of a basic 4 inch display... Methinks someone somewhere in vx is having a right laugh
