    confused Coolant leak

Got in the car this morning and the indicator was on saying that there was not enough coolant in the car. As I did'nt have any on me I topped it up with water just to get me to work. On pulling into the car park at work the light came back on. Do you think this is a split pipe or something more serisous?

if it's using coolant that quickly then chances are you are losing coolant from a hose or punctured rad or something - either way you should see signs of coolant on the road under the car or dripping from the undertray.

if everything is nice and dry under the car and under the bonnet then it must be losing coolant into the engine - in which case you might be looking at head gasket failure. check for white smoke in that case and get a garage to dip the header tank.

either way check in and under the engine bay for signs of a leak. hopefully you'll spot something!

what engine is it? mileage etc..?

    Unhappy Coolant

    Thanks for the info.
Found out what the problem was when I noticed that the leak was coming out beside the nearside front wheel, the water pump is knackered.

£240 to have a new one fitted at the local dearlership !!!!
