    Default Aircon question

The standard aircon on my previouys VX cars all seemed to be quite cold, however I notice on the BMW I currently have that the lowest setting you can set the computer on the duel climate controls is 16c. So it would appear the lowest temps it will go down to in the summer would be 16c, does'nt seem to be any way to override it.

Ie. It appears you cannot switch the climate computer off and just have maximum cooling, I think the Insignia was very similar.

Anyone else come across this. (though possible best posted in the BW forums..lol)

No override that I know of, but you will find that's cold enough. Was the same in my previous 3 series and didn't have a problem with it, the temperature it blows out getting it down to 16c is plenty cold enough

Your one of these people who rams it onto the coldest setting on the assumption it'll get cooler faster... Like my mom and my ex... ain't ya?! lol

It's like people turning the room thermostat in the house up to 40 degree's.... Won't get hotter any faster, but when it gets the a nice temp it carries on heating and you end up with all the windows open

    Thanks guys..

I think what it is, on my old Vec-150 which did not have any climate control, just the bog standard aircon, it was really very cold air, probably as low as 10c or lower, where this one although cool, I noticed was nowhere near as cold, obviously due to the electronic climate control having a minimum of 16c.

Ignore me, I'm just finding issues where none exist...lol

On this rare instance matey your'e right, yep if get into a red hot car when the suns boiling, I have tended to bang the aircon onto max, which seemed natural. (human nature). However I take your valid point, and it's only the cars aircon not the home central heating. too mean to have that turned up above 20c.

In my defence... I'm probably not the only one guilty of this..

    Cheers matey

I assume your car is not fitted with electronic climate control, just the manual aircon, if so, that was the point I was trying to make.

IOW climate controlled aircons dont go down to such low temps.

manual all the way, climate control looks good and has its advantages but turning a temp control knob aint to much hassel.

Absolutely right matey, less to to go wrong too.

Which is what I was getting at initially, manuals are generally colder than those fitted with climate controls.
