Default Bounce bounce to the sound of the springs

Well i was doing a few bits yesterday morning in the front and DHL come rolling down the road. Thought nothing of it because my PI order was still being processed. Well so i thought.

Number ** he asked so i said yeh and there they were. So finished what i was doing, read the online how2's and went to my friends student house in town to get his advice. So we went to Halfords and ended up needing to get a full kit for £50, plus £21 clamps.

I have kept the kit in perfect condition so its going back as they said bring it back if the parts are the wrong size or something, which they weren't but don't want the whole kit for just 2 pieces.

Had trouble doing the front one at first as we didn't have anything that could do the top strut nut. Had to use the sparkplug/alan key trick and after that it was plain sailing. Rear ones is literally 1 nut/bolt. really quick.

When we did the 1st one, the car looked higher. i wasn't liking it and we tried pushing the car down had the wheel off again a real pain. So i said i'll move the car to see if it does anything. And as i was about to release the handbrake i realised everytime i have a wheel off for whatever reason, it drops when the handbrake is disengaged. And this time was no different

Really happy with the result. only PI 30/35mm but its quite a rough ride so 45 would have been too much

Pictures tomorrow because my phone is dead and i am in work

Excellent glad you got them done! I just got one quote from a garage and they want £50 per corner + VAT to do the springs and shocks!!

Going to try a few more places but don't want to pay more than say £100 including VAT really!

Failing that I'm going to do them myself like you did!

What spark plug / allen key trick did you use? I hear that you need a 22mm one but want to be sure before I start!

    Cheers and well done!

You have a 21mm nut which you really cannot get to. So the spark plug (21mm) is long and has a hole in the centre. So when you put the 21mm plug on, you can put an alan key through it to keep the strut from moving. keep the alan key in position using mole grips or an adjustable, then using a spanner or adjustable, turn the spark plug socket to loosen the nut and bobs your uncle

    Sockets you will need are 8mm, 10mm, 14mm, 18 or 19mm and 20/21mm

Yeh looks well smart mate. Ride quality is down the pan though.
Managed to scrape my lower front spoiler on a friends drive way taking them home from work :@

Split the thing a bit and paint is damaged so that needs sorting

Here is the picture anyway from yesterday.

Seems high at the back but it should settle down a bit more over the next hundred or so miles.

What was your car (checked profile to see its an LS) you are really going to feel the change in suspension, going from SRi to PI isn't such a big difference but from an LS it going to be quite big, but once used to it - its awesome

As with lowering any car once done you need to alter the way you drive in accordance with its new stance, your front doesn't look that low so should be easy enough to miss things with it, and things you can't miss, you'll just have to not drive on them anymore.
