    Default Automatic Issue

Hey everyone following on from everyone's kind help and advice on here i finally bought myself a Vectra 2008 1.9 150 CDTI auto.

I absolutely love the car and im pleased i went for the Vectra over the Mondeo!!

I have however noticed a severe lack of power when planting the foot from a stand still. There's about a 4 / 5 second delay before you really get any go. It was most noticeable today when i tried to accelerate out a T junction in a break in traffic and nearly ended my life when i was just about t boned by an Eddie Stobbart lorry. Ive driven a few autos in my time and never noticed such a delay in power. Once on the go the powers there but its when pulling off from a standstill i notice the delay the most.

Has anyone had any experience with the auto boxes ? is this the norm ?

The cars in warranty so i might give the so called expects a call. Thought id post here for some advice first before letting the dealer loose.

    Cheers in advance.

from foot off the brake there is a second or two delay until drive is taken up, may just need to get used to it? if it's deffo as long as you say then I would ask the dealer to have a look.

Welcome to the world of diesel and turbo lag.

Best to build your revs up by gently pressing the throttle and once you've spun the turbo up you then plant the throttle.

Had a 2.2 auto and always disliked that when sat with your foot on the brakes in drive the gearbox selects neturel automatically. It never seemed to re engage drive quick enough when the brakes were released. This 'feature' can be disabled by a tech 2 session.

4/5 sec delay doesn't seem right to me, mines more like 1 second then it's off like a rocket.

Mine is 1 second late and it's normal. 4-5 seconds definitely it's not good. However, when you really need the power from zero, it's best to hold the brake with your left foot and gently rev the engine to 1000-1100 rpm when in D. When you want to go just release the brake and push the accelerator. It always gives best results in case you need to go really quick one in a while. At least that's what I do and I drive an Estate.

Mine delays as well, but not 4-5 seconds, its something i've learnt to have a bit more of a gap when pulling out now.
