    Default Help please!! Limp mode...

Hi all, I would really appreciate some input on this one!

My 1.9 CDTI keeps getting the spanner light and going into limp mode, but no error codes are being stored. Wierd thing is its following a pattern...I drive 10 mins through town to the motorway, temp gets up to 80, then 5 mins cruising on the motorway, temp drops, and then spanner/limp kicks in. It`s done this 3 times now, about the same spot on the motorway each time. Turn off, wait 5 mins and its fine for another 30motorway miles til I get home.

Vauxhall cant find any stored codes, they say it`s fine!

Could it be temperature related? Stuck thermostat throw up a spanner? I`m being cautious on the motorway at the mo, but I`m getting really nervous every time I get on!

    Thanks in advance!

Other than the limp mode are you getting any loss of power before hand, how does it start smooth or lumpy, any smoke ?. it could be thermostat related or egr, have you tried looking through the how 2 section at boost sensor + egr cleaning it wouldn't harm and would rule these out.

Hi folks, sorry for the delay in responding.

No wizard, it starts/ idles fine, no smoke, and before and after limp it pulls like a train, though it does have the flat spot we`re all so familiar with up to 1900rpm. I cleaned the egr + boost sensor last september I think, maybe worth doing again though.I s it worth cleaning the throttle body d`you think?

Do problems like the egr always throw up fault codes?

    So many questions lol...

Its worth doing the throttle body, and the egr can throw up fault codes but NOT always, mine usually dont!.

cleaned the throttle body last night, not as bad as I thought it would be actually, bit gunky but still able to close + open.

Forgot to mention, just had a new inlet manifold and actuator but I didnt change the egr at the same time. So today its clean egr, but is there any way to test its working while its off? Maybe take it off leaving it plugged in, cover the aperture on the manifold and see what it does when reved?
