    Default Denso Iridium Plugs & 2.2 non-direct

Well, just fitted a set of Denso Iridium ITV16 spark plugs to my 2.2 non-direct and frikkin WOW! Went out for a quick blast and what a difference

Following on from Big Phil's Billing purchase (NGK Iridiums on the 3.2 GSi) and subsequent fitting by Mark, Phil reckons they're the dogs danglies so looked up some Iridiums for mine. NGK don't make them for my particular model, but I found some Denso's here: http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk which arrived this morning. After sorting out my lower front Irmy spoiler I set about fitting the plugs.

As Mark suggested in Phil's thread they really couldn't be much easier to fit, it's just a case of undoing the 4 bolts holding down the spark pack (that'll be the black plate on top of the engine with the 'Ecotec' badge on, lifting it off the plugs and using a fairly long plug spanner to reach down the holes and undo the plugs. Wacked the new ones in, remembering from days of old not to overtighten them, spark pack back on and job done.

Just went for a quick blast and the difference is fantastic, pulling away in first is SO much sharper, other than that though, you wont notice much difference until you get past about 2500rpm in other gears, then wow it just flies!

Highly recommended upgrade for anyone with a 2.2 non-direct (probably will have a similar effect on the direct engine, but you'd have to check plug types first and fitting may be different.

FAO: Mrs GSi, get hubby to fit a set of these before you go for your remap

    Sorry to Mark's wallet

Bring on Santa Pod I say!!!

Is your engine the Z18XE Nick? If so then the NGK Iridiums like Phil has will fit, same part number from Courtenay Sport: BKR6EIX

Hi mate, these days plugs should already come set to the right gap it's just a case of making sure you select the correct plug for your engine and year.

Have a look on the web site: http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk down the left hand side they have part finding do-dars, should be able to see if one of them makes them for this engine.

That do-dar never worked for me Spike. I was curious as to what they did for my engine as I was replacing them recently. It went through each stage of the drop down menu and submitting, then when it got to the last part where it had all the engine info, clicking submit did bu**er all!

You might need to do it using Saab info D with the 2.0T, would be the same plug still i'd think?
