One tail light on...when car is locked!!!!!!

Morning All....

Any help would be great with this one............

I've noticed when my car is switched off and locked sometimes the passenger side tail light comes on, this doesn't happen straight away it can be a few hrs after locking the car.

If I unlock it then the light goes off.........I've checked the bulbs and all are working (other than the fog which I've read on here it doesn't).

I know on the Veccy B's when you leave the indicator on and switch the engine off the sidelight for that particular side will be on.

Not sure if it's the same for the Veccy C's? Are you leaving your indicator on by any chance?

I'd checked that as thought the same, doesn't come on straight away...#

It does sound like there is a fault with the park light system. Is the indicator stalk floppy at all? ie, loose enough to put the park light on by itself.

above were my first thoughts, is the front sidelight on on same side, or just tail light?

Just the tail light.....I did try moving the indicator stalk up and down but made no difference......

It seems to be the brake light that comes on as opposed to the tail as it's very bright.... could this be the switch or something near the brake pedal?

it wouls suggest that there is an internal fault on the systems interface - could be a wiring short somewhere as the car should goto "sleep" after a few minutes its sounds like this is not the case - it would be worth metering the battery when the car is locked and see what the voltage drops to (you will need to trigger the bonnet lock and bonnet sensor to make the car think its closed ...) and then check again when the light is on - either way it may be a costly repair from the diagnosis point of veiw..
if the cars not standing too long then i cannot see a major issue

Thats strange...

The park light for the Vecs only come on after the key is out of the ingntion and you hold the stalk to what ever direction till it beeps.
