    Default Inlet manifold swirl rod.....

seems to have come off and is just resting on top now. Its a bit lumpy on idle now and ive noticed like exhaust fumes coming up from there when its started and i noticed this as there is a strong smell in the car when its started like coming thru the centre vents. Would this not bring the spanner light on the dash?? once its warm it goes ok, sometimes its not pulling in low revs and sometimes it is??? is all this linked to the manifold needing replacing?? i priced the parts up from the dealers today and for the manifold, actuator, egr valve and 3 gaskets its a total of £500 incl vat. I just gotta take me car to our other garage now as i work in the trade and get it done cheap to see if the mechanic fancies doing it, if he does then it will probly cost me about £88 in labour as the dealers have said its a 5hour job to do, is that correct?

If you're getting rid, then it isn't worth spending £500, when £1 would give the same results....£499 in your pocket !!

Try the fix for a £1 on the swirl rod !, mine lasted about 2yrs but unfortunatly you will probably still get fumes as i did!, get the manifold from ebay around £170 then a inlet gasket from vx £14 THATS IT!!!, As i say to a lot of people i wish you were closer!, id be willing to help anybody get round this bag of crap vx manifold but everybody lives Miles away!.

Most dealers DONT REPLACE ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE MANIFOLLD + GASKET!!!, a lot may say they do!.but DONT. the ebay manifold is genuine at £170 delivered to your door.
