Default Got a letter today from Vauxhall...

Dear sir, Your 3 year / 60.000 mile warranty is due to expire on the 30/08/2006. If you have any warranty issues or problems, we would be pleased to discuss these with you and assist in any way we can. All we ask is you book the vehicle in at least 14 days before the expiry date.

I nearly fell over laughing. If only they knew!! Admitedly it's not a garage I have used for anything other than an estimate for a new bumper, but even so!!

My ( rented ) Ford is running perfectly, thank you!

    Yep, I said ford.

At the moment I reckon I have the most potent Diesel Estate car on the site!!! Just a shame it isn't a Veccy.

I'd love to take them up on their offer, but as I don't have a clue where my car is at the moment.... Apparently it's going / gone to luton, but who knows!!

I may have to update my Avitar to show the rental car at this rate, or subscribe to FMOC again!!

It's a Mondeo Ghia X 2.2 Diesel, as a car it's nice enough as init has nearly everything you can think of, even cooled leather seats, but no sunroof or prat nav.

It does go very very well, pulls very strongly in 6th, but isn't too economical. And if anyone else says to me, " but the Ford handles better " , I'll vomit copiously over them! It understeers, wallows, torque steers, crashes over lumps on the road, the lot. I think an Elite CDTi 150, would pi$$ all over it for looks, comfort, handling and road manners.

At least it hasn't broken yet.......

The father-in-law had a TDCI as a loan car while his Freelander was in the dealer - nice enough car (I think it was the 130bhp 2.0) but somehow it just didn't "feel" right, especially trim wise as the rear door cards were loose (and that was with 1500mls on the clock!). Seemed to go well, but by good did it throw the **** out the back...

    Rubbish quite frankly.

The mondeo will leave a vectra for dead on any twisty road end of .

If im pressing on in the vectra(which is a 150 cdti design) it has god awfull steering feedback with loads of torque steer kickback and weighs up mid corner so you cant "feel" where the wheels are pointing,
it wallows like a p155ed hippo on a hen night and TBH i dont thinks its very quick for the 150bhp its supposed to have ,
a 130 ps mondeo would stick with it no probs ,

the vectra is ideal on motorways nice and smooth , fast A-B roads , im not impressed too much kick back and weighing up in the steering and wallow to make it enjoyable or even bearable,
im not a huge fan of the mondeo but it IS a far better drivers car .
