The chrome on the doorstrips CAN be removed from the rubbers quite easy but the rear quarter strip need's to be done in situ if colour coding etc

Default "tarnished" chrome (plastic?) window strips

Car is 2004 Elite Direct estate.

Had this terrific car for 5 years and it looks and drives great. (Ok a couple of broken springs and in anticipation of the high pressure fuel pump failing I replaced it and the regulator - but a great car with no more irks than any other)

Its appearance is however spoilt by what looks like tarnish on the chrome/plastic strips which under the windows.

If I polish them or even just rub them with a cloth this "tarnish" goes away only to quickly reappear.

Any ideas please on how to best remove this "tarnish".

Would a mild abrasive/ chrome polish take away this tarnish or is it something underneath a plastic coating?

Are the strips chrome or plastic?

    Thanks ,
    Dave

i ended up replacing all my chrome sets with black rubber on my 2 vecs
they are not chrome. they are plastic with a foil underlay. onece water gets in, they haze, you can polish all you like they will never come back again.
i got the advice from guys on here.......
