TBh I bought one of these - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=390156273716.

Its not a sealed type but then again I haven't noticed any heat soak either - always used open ones on many cars and have never noticed any. It was also too cheap to turn down! (compare the price to others) Sounds great too

Never tried a sealed one, but for the price I had to see what they were like. TBH I'd be surprised if there were more than a few bhp between a sealed and open type any way. Losing weight would be a better way to go to gain back those few lost bhp - have a dump before going out!

The choice is yours. Some swear by closed only due to the heat build up/warm air issues. Personally I have never noticed any heat soak issues.

If you don't like it, sell it on and get a closed type

on really hot days last year i noticed a loss of power on the vec b so i recon cause its a bigger engine a sealed 1 would be a better choice this time round they cost a chunk of change tho

Ive got a closed bmc... And i love it!

I had an open one on my old car and loved that too, but never tried an open one on the vec. You certainly dont lose any sound with the closed system i wouldnt worry about that, mine sounds awesome

You dont need to get a brand new one either, just pick up a 2nd hand one off ebay or similar Or theres a few people been buying a cheaper one recently new but cant remember what theyr called!

    Might aswell post a pic...
