Default Computer display showing strange temperatures

Hi all, finally got hold of an 04 plate Vectra SRi 2.2 yesterday, and it's been running great so far (touch wood). Just one small issue though - the computer display is showing temperatures in the high 30s-low 40s. Now I know it's getting warmer out, but it's nowhere near that hot!! I also appear to have no cold air - just hot hot air blowing through my vents, even with my aircon on. I'm guessing it's a combination of a discharged aircon unit and a stuck solenoid behind the heater control unit for the hot air, but what about the temperature display?

Like I say, just little niggles, but I'd like my new pride and joy to be right!

Might be the sensor by the front bumper. You can get them off Ebay quite cheap.

If you bought it from a garage mate are you not able to take it back and get the bits you've noticed fixed?

If it was private then I guess there's not much you can do really.

The outside temperature probe, I believe, is stuck on the front bumper near the bottom so if you try cleaning the connector a bit it might just be a faulty connection, failing that it may be best replacing it if that doesn't work.

I think you're on the right track with the heat problem inside the car but someone better at that area will respond soon I'm sure!

It was a private sale fella. To be honest I had a pretty good price on it so not too bothered about spending a little money on it. Just be nice to have them sorted with it getting warmer.

Lol you're not wrong there! Had the A/C on the other day for the first time in 6 months! Must have been parked in the sun all day because it was hot!

Even warmer today but not been in the car yet!

Mine's parked right in the sun! Looks awesome with the sun reflecting off the black paint, but by god it's gonna be hot if I have to get into it!

Well, no regas needed for the aircon - it works fine!! Cleaned and refitted the internals of the control unit and all seems to be ok with it. Going to be refitting the control unit for the blowers on Thursday, so fingers crossed!
