    Default drunk driver

went out for a meal last night with the wife and local pub was so full (they have an offer on for meals) we went into Warrington for a Chinese. As we got to a junction there was a bit of a traffic queue and a few pedestrians / dog walkers standing round.

If anyone knows the area it was the junction of O'Leary st (by the barracks) and Marsh house lane. At the head of the traffic on the main road was a car - a Blue Tigra I think. There were 2 lads by the drivers door and it looked like it had been in an accident - cant explain why - probably because everyone was looking, no damage visible. The lads opened the door and were trying to drag the driver out.

We thought it had been hit from behind maybe, the lads dragged out a forty'ish woman all dressed up. She could barely stand, she was staggering so much she was either plastered or had a medical condition that has the same symptoms. The lads tried to push the car up the curb out of the way and the woman staggered down the road towards us, oblivious to the traffic.

We went on our way and passed a cop car en route with its blues on, the wife made me do a run back past to see what was happening, cop was focussed on the car, woman no where to be seen.

If her walking was any indication of her driving ability its scary someone can even attempt to drive in that condition. This was about 7.30 pm - you never know what your going to encounter on the roads nowadays.

probably because as young uns have had it drummed into us from age 0 that drink driving is a sin worse than murder or rape, whilst middle aged people have been told that drink driving is bad later on in life?

AFAIK, "official" stats still show men aged late-teens-to-late-twenties as those most likely to fail a breath test after a collision ... I can't find an online source though, or any more general "what age is most likely to drink-drive" information.
