trade in and get 150 cdti????
i think he just wants more power not more grief lol, get her mapped
Lol.
The 120 8v units are IMO better than the 150's. No swirl flaps to go wrong and I reckon they are smoother running.
http://www.diesel-performance.co.uk/ if you're looking for something you can remove if and when you need to.
Or you could go down the remap route, I used remap science in Bradford on my V6 2.8 and I am hugely pleased with the results: http://www.remapscience.co.uk/
You can get more power out of her by remapping it but the 150 will generally be quicker. Especially if that's been remapped as well (like mine )
But seriously though some things that you can look at doing (that I've also done to mine):
- Remove CAT and central silencer from exhaust system and put a straight through pipe to rear silencer(s) - (£150-£200)
- K&N Panel filter and air box mod - (£40)
- Remap (lots of choice at the moment I would recommend DCP Tuning) - (£240-£550)
- Good service (change glow plugs while you're there) (£150-£200)
Apart from that there is only really 'tweaking' that you can do but that costs lots of money
HTH's
You know what I get fed up of hearing that all the time when some one asks how can they get more power give them the information they need like remapping or what ever. Its up to them if they go down the route of spending loads of money to get more power out of the car.
I know for a fact I sure as hell would not want someone to tell me to get another car. If I asked that question.
And like they say if you get a 150 you will need deep pockets for all the problems with them im glad I got shut of mine when I did!
TBH I get fed up with that too mate
"What can I do to get more power from a 2.2DTi?"
And 90% of the time folk say "Buy another car"
I like my car, I don't what another one, if you want to help me then give a sensible answer, otherwise don't bother.
With regards to the OP's question, sort out the breathing of the car first (exhaust and intake) before getting it re-mapped. That will give you a re-map suited to the mods you have done
Thats Exactly it mate im in the same boat as you there is always away to get more power its just the cost.
At the moment Im looking at Turbo charging again and I tell you what im damn near close to finding out how to do it the only problem for me now is swirlflaps but I will get around it
I would rather spend alot of money on the car I have now then buy another as I dont know what sort of mine field I would walk in too by buying another used car and plus the car I have now is great
Diesels are great for tuning as there already very strong engine blocks to start with as they have to cope with the compression they produce. I always think outside the box as half of the people on here wont go any further than a Remap
