Default Retro Fitting Scroller Wheel controls

    Hi All,

    The wife has a Vectra Energy (2005 1.9CDTI 150).

Initially the car came with CD30, TID and no steering wheel controls.

I have since fitted the CD30 and CID, which was mainly just plug and play.

The problem is fitting scroller wheels and button controls to the steering wheel spokes.

I have plugged them in (blue 3 pin connector on either side of steering wheel boss, near the top of the airbag).

I have op-com programmed them to the car, but they still will not work.
Not even illumination of the buttons.

Diagnosis with Op-com identifies that the left switch is open circuit.
NO circuit problems on the right switch assembly.

Initially, I suspected the switch unit, and I even bought a spare set of Astra switches..(These would require reconfiguring to fit the vectra).

Anyway, I got my digital test-meter on the switches today, and realised that the switches are indeed okay, but there is a connection missing somewhere between the 3 pin connector for the switch, and the 4 pin connector in th CIM housing.

Knowing how flakey the CIM can be, I wanted to ask if there is something I am missing, before risking fitting an extra ground wire or another signal wire, which may risk mis-operation of the horn or even major damage to the CIM.

    Has anyone done this before?

Here is a basic wiring diagram for the switches and the horn...I am open to being corrected on this.

I have seen two types for the Astra-H / Zafira-B...but only one for the Vectra-C.

Apart from to suit 3 or 4 spoke steering wheels.

Do you know the electrical differences between these two types of remote scroller assemblies?

This confuses me a little, as there are just two small 3-pin connectors that simply plug in.

Will have to have a look tomorrow (sunday) to see where these two sockets connect up to...
If I am lucky, then I may just find a ground tag tied up out of the way...
    here's to hoping.

connection 1 or 2 in the crude picture above.

also - I have already enabled the scrollers and buttons....just a matter of hunting the missing link(s)

Prefacelift scrollers use 3 wires on a flying lead to a socket at base of steering wheel plate...

Facelift scrollers use 4 wires 'from' a flying lead at the base of the steering wheel plate.
Plasma's Tech2 services are now open and able to provide services

The CIM knows that the switches (rollers and buttons) are present...it didn't come up on the op-com, until I enabled the switches on the variance tables...

Yep mine is the one with the 3-wire flying leads (pre-face-lift)

I think you might need to get the steering controls with the three little buttons on each side.

The ones with the wheels on aren't the right ones for your car.

The three button controls are for half-can audio systems such as CDR 2006 / 2005 or NCDR2011,2013 or 2015...
mine is early full can pre-facelift (factory fitted with CD30 and TID) and as such it SHOULD be scrollers and buttons....then again, you never quite know with VX.

I am guessing that the left one is facelift and the right one is pre-facelift.
(In both pictures)...the right one has the correct connectors, location lugs and the correct shape for my car. The left one is totally different...note the link wire on the left one which also provides connection for the live and earth feeds for the horn - brown/white and brown respectively.

Not had chance to investigate today...probably next week now.
