    Default Vectra SRi 2.0T

I was looking at a 150 cdti but im getting a little bit of a runaround from the sales guy over the service history. I was going to travel the 80miles to look at it but if he is being sketchy and evasive over the phone what could he be trying to hide? Im not always paranoid but when im spending a shade under 5 grand i would like straight answers to questions like "has the cambelt been done" and "is it a vauxhall service history"

I have also seen a Vectra SRi 2.0T which i really like, Its only done 50,000 as apposed to the cdti's 90,000 miles, the fuel cost isn't going to cripple because i dont do lots of miles as we have a new zafira 1.6 which is the family car. I do fancy an SRi model as i used to own a D reg one in the late 80s early 90s and i really liked that but the newer 1.8s dont seem to have fantastic performance whereas the cdti 150 and the 2.0T seem pretty respectable.

Are they reliable? I've seen lots of horror stories from the cdti 150's but cant find much on the 2.0T.

    Thanks Martin.

The 2.0T is probably the best engine of the entire range, easily tunable to 225+bhp & I've not heard of any major problems

2.0T is 1 of the best and most reliable in the range,i've only had mine about 7 months and 7k miles but been great so far.Fuel consumption around low 30s with a careful right foot.

the reason you hear about reliabilty issues with the cdti 150 im guessing are mainly due to market share, whereas the 2.0T is a rare motor in comparison, albeit very reliable. the reason you hear about so many probs with the diesel is there are so many of them!!!

i think you were just unlucky with yours matey, it seems to happen that every manufacturer builds one awful dog car per a billion made that forever going wrong and is constantly at garages, you just happened to be the one who brought one.

on a lighter note hows the gsi going fella?

If economy is not an issue for you im afraid there can only be one answer - 2.0T I have owned both cars, both very good in their own right but i see no sence buying a diesel with 90k on the clock if economy is not a concern. There are a good few 2.0Ts for sale including some edition 100's so pick the right one and you will have a gem of a car - i have owned my current 2.0T for over 3 years and its been superb

Im going down tomorrow to hopefully get it sorted. I didnt know they did a 2.0T until today and was going for the 150 diesel as the performance seemed to be better than a 1.8 petrol and the economy was a bonus, but anything should be better than my 16mpg shogun

You can't go far wrong with a 2.0t
