Hands Down its gotta be the 1.9 CDTI (150) pheonomenol engine i went to get one but the ****holes sold it literally an hour before i went to put the deposit down. But test drove it and its incredible.

^Yes, it's the "driver's choice" of the three without a shadow of a doubt.
Nobody ever buys the 120hp CDTI in preference to the 150; 120hp is the "cheaper to buy" option and that's all it has going for it
150 is at least £700 more to buy, but it's worth it

DTI -- it's just getting on now (old engine), but I'd get one of these over the CDTI 120 (both are about the same in performance, neither are close to the CDTI[150] for acceleration).

If you can though, just get the V6 CDTI -- definitely the best vec c diesel to drive & own if you can handle the less mpg.

On this forum you will, and do, hear a lot of problems with CDTI 150.
Everyone comes here looking for help and complain, and as around 50% of vec C after 2006 are CDTIs, there's much more reports of problems compared to other models.
It is by FAR the most popular vec c model.
Unfortunately, some have been abused with tuning boxes (not necessarily good for long term reliability, if you're unlucky).

Take care and get a good clean example, and it's top class motoring for bargain price.

I don't think they are particularly brilliant in terms of reliability (all the vec c diesels that is), but nothing is these days.

i have an 8 valve its alright once it gets going however my previous seat 1.9 8v was like an evo in comparison. that said you don't have the constant niggle in the back of your mind about clutches flywheels swirl actuators manifolds egr valves or dpf's that some 16v owners experience
