Default Normal For Back Pads & Discs To Wear Before Fronts

    Hi
Im new to Vectra C Club and have made the change from a astra coupe into a Vectra 3.0 v6 cdti facelift sat nav(58 Plate).

I dropped the car into a local Vauxhall dealership concerning a noise from rear.
I was informed that the rear tyres had a lip causing noise, they also dropped the bomb shell that the back brakes had 95% worn and needed replacment pads and discs.
The car has only done 23k (only had 7k when i purchased) but the fronts are only 50% worn. 99% of usage is motorway and I dont think I have ever driven with the handbreak on.

Any help and thoughts would be great.

    how much?!!!

My pads cost under £30 and I think the disc/pad kit is about £70. Can be done in an hour.

why not do them yoursself? They are easy to do if you have the tools..

long nose pliers, jack, axle stand, rachet with hex bit (cant remember the size). There's a how2 on here as well.

Premature rear brake failure on the original set is VERY common on the Vectra
The noise you heard was the discs, this is normally also accompanied by a vibration when braking
I have claimed every time for this

What you need to do is ask for the fault to be looked at by way of a road test, demonstrate it to the Service Manager if need be
The noise and vibration is usually enough for this person to agree there is an issue

The matter is then raised as a warranty claim
Normally the rear brake pads are about 80% at 15K miles, but this causes damage to the first set of discs
Sadly this is the typical life span of rear pads (15K miles)
The replacement discs will last longer, but only to about 15K miles / 30K miles

Front pads should last you to about 20K miles, the front discs about 90K miles
