Vehicle : Signum CDTI 150 Design

    Engine : Z19DTH

    confused Vectra LPG

Hi there. I've been driving diesel vauxhalls for years, most recently had a 3.0 CDTI Signum (sold it to save some cash), Vectra C 2.0 DTI (sold it before it needed to much work with 135k on it), and lastly an Astra SXI 2.0 DTI which I just wrote off into a telephone pole last week in the snow. So I'm looking out for another Vectra C and was thinking about a 1.8 Dualfuel instead of a diesel (had enough of the 2.0 DTI and can't afford a 1.9 cdti).
Can anyone tell me how many miles I can expect to get to a litre (or gallon) of LPG? I know its half the price of diesel but if I only get 25 mpg from it, a diesel is just about as good plus I can stick to what I know.
I can't seem to find an accurate figure for mpg on gas, Autotrader states 29.1 while What Car gives 38.2. Can anyone give me some sound advice?

I know we can'r believe everything the govt say but they agreed 12 months to keep the duty differential on LPG for another 4 years so should remain significantly cheaper for a while yet (I hope)

    wrong but rite

the goverment are raising the duty over 4 years to bring it inline with the rest of the pump prices.
i guess in a few years time it just wont be viable to convert.

    Default Dual Fuel returns (LPG)

Hi I have a 1.8 sxi it seems to return about 30 mpg whichever fuel I use (LPG or petrol) I travel 65 miles each way to work 99% of it motorway.

Save a small fortune in fuel costs by using LPG.

Used to have a 1.9 CDTI SRI and never got over 45 mpg in that, so my conclusion is that as I'm virtually getting the equivelant of 60mpg in the lpg bus I'm better off.

Incidentally bought it at 111,500 miles now got 129,500 on it and still going fine - apart from the infamous clutch judder when I pull away but as mostly on motorway can live with it.

My other personal fun car is Focus RS - don't want too depreciate that by piling the miles on it.

Would like another newer LPG. Shame they stopped doing them

I have a 53 plate 1.8 Dual Fuel, and am getting around 350 miles to a tankful, so averaging around 35mpg on LPG. That's mainly A-road driving, 55 miles a day. Costs about £25 to fill the tank at my local Asda.

Previously I had a 1995 2.2 Subaru Legacy on LPG, and that wasn't so good - about 250 miles to the same size tank. But it's a significantly older engine and Subarus are never as economical as other makes.

The Vectra feels exactly the same whether it's on petrol or gas, and I do like the way the fuel gauge shows you the LPG tank or petrol tank depending on which you have selected
