rolleyes How awesome are Veccy Brakes by the way....

One of those days where u wish you had a Video camera in the car!

Was heading up the autobahn yesterday grabbing some spares for the Mrs' clio I bought on the bay! (which after 150 miles one of the shops realised they had to order in... ******s!)

Anyway, saw a BMW racing a Merc coming up behind me in the fast lane, so as soon as they passed, down shift to 4th and shoot off after them...

The Merc ended up being a hearse! But after doing him at around 125mph and gaining on the Beemer and hitting the limiter so keeping the 60-100m distance constant at 155 lol (bit annoying)...
A 60-70mph driver decided to pull out from the middle lane, a split second after the BMW passed... (do the maths if he was 100m infront etc...)

Luckily I saw the first indicator flash as I planted my foot on the NEW (but luckily bedded in Brakes as I have never slowed down as fast as that!!!!

The cheeky ****** even waved with gratitude when I was flashing my headlights at them lol.

You think the Hearse was a sign??? Signum saved the day again I think... But the Beemer got away grrrr

Many motorways in germany there is a speed limited.

But on there where there isnt its still recomended to drive 130 KM/H.. normal speed is 130-160 and its not fast until you go above 200..

I was working in Frankfurt a couple of years ago, and got a Taxi from the city to the airport. It was a Merc E270 Diesel. We held 200 kph all the way along the autobahn, which was quite enjoyable. I've had a yen for an E series ever since.

Same sort of thing happened to me, but not quite at 155, but 140 is still fast enough.
The guy who pulled out in front of me was further away thank god as that was when I found out the standard 285 sri brakes are woefully inadiquate at those sorts of speeds and overheat at 100 and fade which is kinda scary when you realise the guy in front is only doing about 65 and your not slowing down enough anymore!!!.

Thankfully a German in the middle lane saw what was happening and got out of the way leaving me an escape route.

When I got back home I was straight on the phone to LMF and was sure glad last summer when those 315's saved me from a similar situation.
Now I only worry about the people behind me...

The 'recommended speed' is 130kph. If there is no other limit you can drive faster, however if you cause or have an accident even if someone pulls out on you I am pretty sure you are liable.

Most parts are covered by a 120 or 100kph limit though. They also hide cameras all over so if there is a limit stick within 20kph of it or you might get a ban.

They are also big on tail gating (although you wouldnt believe it as the Germans wil get real close to your rear end if they want to get past lol... another thing they are big on.. moving over to the right)

Apart from that its great... unless it rains... which caused me a write off once upon a time lol.. they dont drain so well!
