    confused Opel "titanium" shock absorbers

    Hi all,

I have had a rear shock go on the Vec (gsi) so I took a trip to my local Opel dealer to get a price for the rear shocks - I almost fell over at the quote:

Supply only - 800 Euros for the pair, they must be made of titanium or gold

I could buy a complete suspension kit and still have change.

I then went to the next Opel dealer who said that the car was a factory sports set up but was not sure which were the right dampers even though he had my chassis number.

are the GSI Shocks different to the standard Vec's???
I have not got pots of money for an upgrade at the moment so want to replace like for like, Can any one help with GM part numbers for GSI shocks?

    Regards

    Trev

Vehicle : Insignia CDTi SRi NAV 160

You have the shorter dampers on (same as the SRi which gives 15mm lower than standard). Unless you have IDS+ then there is only two types Standard and SRi/GSi. Get some Bilstein B6's which are better than the VX ones by far and cost about £100 each and are meant for the SRi/GSi.

it could be either the IDS+ you have or the selfleveling.. (about that price for the rear shocks...)

if you have IDS+ you would need tech2 to disable that afterwards.. (its among one of the things your sports button does something with)

Not sure what IDS is, but took the winter tyres off yesterday to put the alloys back on and they look like normal shocks,

IDS would have wires going to the shocks.
