    Default Another new laptop....

after reading lots of negative reviews and comments on here about Packard Bell laptops, and an unsuccesful start with my new one i decided to take it back to pc world today and try to exchange it for an Acer Aspire 5740. They couldnt have been more helpful if im honest and have to give them the thumbs up as they exchanged it no problem even tho id used it for the weekend and decided it wasnt for me. So ive done my recovery discs now for my new one and i have to say im more than happy with this laptop. Its very quick compared to the other one, it has the new intel core i3 processor in it which is supposed to be up2 35% quicker than the standard ones and it certainly seems that way. I was wrong to go for how the laptop looked over performance and the bits inside when i chose the Packard Bell one, but now ive got the acer one home i think it looks quite smart too, so im now happy and am just waiting for my 2.5" hdd caddy to arrive so i can get all my files, pics and music off my old laptop hard drive.

im guessing its speed, the i3 in mine is 2.13ghz or something but has a 3 mb cache which helps it ive been told when u look at other processors only have a 1mb cache.. im not a pc boffin so dont know that much about them, all i know is they are the latest processors out they came out the begining of the year and are supposed to be 35% quicker than your standard one???

i7 is a Quadcore with hyperthreading, the i5 is a Quadcore without hyperthreading.
The i3 is a core duo, basically half an i5.

    All are 64bit capable.

For anyone interested, the difference between i7 and i5 (hyperthreading) only affects performance if you have more than one GFX card installed... Because of the additional PCI bandwidth available with multithreading.
