Is your engine map up to date?

Had my engine re-mapped at Regal Autosports.

The car now feels lovely. I reckon it's got much more mid-range and generally much more pulling power.

The car's still economical too if you drive it that way, although it is a bit worse if your heavy footed (So that's me out of pocket then!), although I have noticed a massive increase in economy when using high octane fuels. I put Optimax in it before getting the re-map done and the drive from Bristol to Southampton yielded 35mpg by the time I got there. Although I admit I was cruizing at only 70Mph on the motorway for the purpose of the test.

While I was there the guys told me that the software on my car was from 2004 (when it was first registered), but he said he had to load up about 40 updates to the base software before they could re-map it. It didn't cost any more, but I was surprised because I assumed that if such updates existed my dealer would have been installing them while it's in for servicing. It's been in twice for services since I got it, the last time was only two weeks ago.

Is it normal for dealers not to keep updating the software to the latest spec? These updates are for bug's, improvements to the way the car drives, economy etc.

not sure about the updates...you'd HOPE they would, but hey this is vx.

I had mine updated when it was in for a service, be carefull they don`t start now and overwrite your remap ..

Snap, mines going tomorrow for its 1st service. So I'm going put a sheet on the seat with my instructions to check for engine software updates.

Just phoned the stealer and asked if they could add the software update to the list...

Was informed that they check every cars database that they get in for updates......

I'll wait and see.....lol

I think most of them load any applicable updates for known field remedies. Mine was updated to fix a starting problem a fdew months ago.
