    Default Steering wheel controls

I fitted my Pioneer headunit to the car and everything works fine except the steering controls.

I have a feeling that I've got the wrong lead

This is the lead I bought and the car is a 54 plate 2.2 DTI.

The stereo is a Pioneer DEH-30MP and the patch lead is definately a Pioneer one.

Thing is, the ebay listing for the steering control lead says Vectra 02-05 larger display, but my car only has the basic 2 line screen.

Anyone know if it is the wrong lead and which one it is that I should get.

    Cheers.

    What was your previous head-unit.?

    Was it a half can NCDC2011, 2013, 2015 or CDR 2005, 2006, 2008 or similar,
Or was your radio a CD30.

If it is a CD30, then you have the wrong connector lead (You would need the quadlock type connector), however if it is any other model listed above, then at least the connectors are right. (ISO).

Problem is...that 54 plate (october 2004 to March 2005) is the change-over period when either format could have been supplied.

Full can radio will have a scroller wheel and two buttons on each spoke of the steering wheel, however half can will have three buttons on each spoke.

Look at this thread for wheel identification.

It is the right style of loom, however, I was always under the impression, that these leads were head-unit manufacturer specific.
That is, JVC, Pioneer, Sony etc.

I understand that you say that it IS the pioneer one, but there is nothing on the advert to say it is...hence my query.

There are minor differences between each manufacturer's wiring.

Another thought is...did you leave the original display in the dash ?, as the controls will not work without the display in place and connected up.

I bought a Pioneer specific patch lead which connects between the steering adapter & the head unit. I have not removed the display, its still connected although not to the stereo (just displays time, temp & date).

Looking through ebay listings, I can't find another adapter which would suit so I think I must have the right one but am doing something wrong.

I have come to my limit on this one as I have not fitted an aftermarket head-unit, however you could do a search for pioneer on this site...there should be several posts, and if needs be, pm any member that has successfully fitted this item.

Yeah, wires have been swapped. I have removed the steering adapter for now but will have another play around tomorrow and see if I can spot anything I have missed.
