Default This fake carbon fibre craze.

Am I the only one here who thinks all this fake carbon fibre vinyl wrapping in the interior of cars looks awful? I'm beginning to wonder if I've gone insane as everyone else seems to love it so much, but no matter how much I look at bits that people have done, I can't for the life of me see what the fascination is.

Don't get me wrong, everyone's car is their own business and everyone has their own tastes, after all if we all thought the same it would be a very boring world indeed but I just don't get it.

You've got a grey plastic interior and you slap one piece of fake carbon fibre slap bang in the middle of it. The colour doesn't match the plastic or the fabric of the trim so it stands out like a sore thumb in a plasticky, fake, chequered vinyl pretending to be carbon sort of way.

    Is it just me?

Although I will own up to quite liking the Irmscher carbon exterior pillar kits, no way would I pay what they cost for them though.

If someone was to suddenly decide to chuck the door pillar kit my way, I wouldn't turn it down, but it's the one and only thing I've seen so far done in "carbon" (and let's be honest it's NOT carbon) that I actually like. I just can't get doing the interior door handles, steering wheel inserts or to be honest anything else inside the car, they stand out like a sore thumb and don't match anything. But as I say, maybe just me lol

With the amount of modern cars with "carbon fiber" interior extras whats the harm?

The likes of BMW have been using it for years in their sport models.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I didn't say there was any harm in it, I said I didn't get it. Although just because other cars have it doesn't mean it looks right in cars that weren't designed with it of course.

Personally, everything inside covered in fake carbon would stop me buying a car, but I'm aware, as I said, that it's a personal taste thing. Just trying to find out if it's just me or if there are others here that can't stand it too.

No argument from me, as I've already said several times, it's personal taste, I understand that. Not for me though
