    Default Estate tailgate problem.

Ok guys, just been out to do the shopping, when I had put all of the shopping (Groceries, etc) into the rear I didn't push the tailgate down hard enough and it didn't close properly.
It was on the latch but you could rattle it so I simply put my backside against it and gave a hefty shove and it closed okay, however I have just got home and I now cannot get the tailgate open, I've locked / unlocked the car numberous times but to no avail, so folks, have you any ideas as to what the problem might be and more importantly how to solve it / get the thing open ?,

    Thanks in advance,
    Saxman.

Have you tried the manual release inside the boot?
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Bit more info, I have been out and have managed to release the tailgate with the manual release, however once I close it again even though its in the unlocked position I cannot get it open, I suspect the handle is at fault as it appears to be permanently in the locked position.
(It does not move when pressed) any ideas as to the problem guys ?,

    Regards,
    Saxman.

    Vehicle : Insignia Tourer

    Trim : Elite

    Engine : 2.0 CDTI (160ps)

    Year : 2010

Had a similar thing with my saloon last week when it went for it's MOT but the opposite way round. The guy doing the testing didn't know about the motorised locks in them, used the key when it wouldn't open and then it wouldn't shut again (to the point he slammed it so hard trying to shut it that it knocked the catch out of alignment and I had to re-adjust it when I got home).

The fix for me was to use the key in the lock to turn it fully both ways, then press the boot release button on the remote, shut it and open it with the remote again. All fine and dandy again now.

Not sure if that's any help or not, but it's a similar situation just in reverse.

No keyhole on the estate tailgate and no separate release button on the remote.
(Press unlock once for drivers side and twice for other doors and tailgate)

Anybody else with any suggestions / ideas ?

    Regards,
    Saxman.

Thanks anyway, I cant see the button having jammed in, when it didn't close properly I simply put my backside against the tailgate a gave a bit of a shove and it closed, I didnt touch / go anywhere near the button.

Thinking about it if the button had jammed in, it wouldn't close which is the opposite of your problem anyway, ignore me, tired tonight and not thinking straight lol
