Default Limp as a wet lettuce...

    Hi all,
I need help on my 1.9cdti 150, damn thing goes into limp mode at the same time, same place on the motorway every day! 3 days now, probably today too!

I drive through town, engine warms to 80, then onto the m-way and the engine starts to cool down again(!) and 5 minutes after its spanner/limp. After switching off for 5 mins it has reset itself up to now, and I`m good for another 30 miles of motorway. Anyone got any ideas? Frustrating thing is that there are no error codes popping up, had it checked 2 nights in a row by a friendly garage (its not cost me anything yet).

Could the thermostat or temperature sensor bring on a limp?

I`m very confused, any help is much appreciated!
    Cheers!

How long you leaving it in limp home mode before resetting it?

Takes something like a minute for a fault code to get stored - this is to help prevent false faults getting logged.

    Hi,
I`m pulling onto the hard shoulder now before limp mode kicks in, as soon as spanner shows up, I turn off and leave it a few minutes before re-starting ...and yup, just got home and its happened again tonight! I drive 32 miles to work in the morning with no trouble, but driving home its a carbon copy, doing my nut in lol!

    anyone got any ideas?

Thought I read on here that some sensors aren`t read by the ecu until the engine is at operating temperature, does anyone have any ideas which ones might have this kind of delay?

    Cheers!

Apart from my earlier suggestion of leaving it in limp mode long enough for a fault code to be stored, er no. From what you're saying you're not giving it chance to store any codes.

At the moment you're clutching at straws and getting nowhere. Guesswork was never a reliable method of fault detection. Drive it for a while in limp home mode, then try getting the fault code(s) read again - the diy pedal trick might work.

Hi Kenno, what are your symptoms? Ignore the post about waiting long enough in limp for the codes to register, Vauxhall have told me that if it goes into limp it should throw up a code straight away, in my case they said that P1125 code (throttle actuator problem) was found but not stored, probably because it is an intermittent fault that is clearing then re-appearing. In my case they want me to pay another £88 quid for furthur electrical tests, on top of the tech 2! I`m going to try to find somewhere more reasonable.
