    Default CDTi Oil Change!

Well, I did the Tigra's oil last week. 15 minutes start to finish.

Did the Vectra today. 2 hours!!

Couldn't get the splash tray fully off due to rusted bolts. Discovered you don't need it all off then had trouble getting access to the drain plug, then had major problems getting the drip tray in position because the access flap was in the way. Then it took a good 10 minutes to find the filter!!

Next oil change, either to a local garage to borrow a ramp instead of using axel stands or better still, just get it done by a garage!!

Why would they make it so flipping akward?!

Best of all is there's some (quite a lot!) of spillage on the exhaust so it is gonna smell like hell when its properly warm!

I can't. I can get all but 3 of the torx bolts out, the pesky 3 are rusted and rounded.

Any downsides to losing it altogether?

In a year and a half of ownership i've not noticed anything bad, it may be a little noisier without it but I wouldn't know lol

you only need to drop the small middle section, oil change is around 15 min job for the cdti.

I figured the middle bit but access was a serious issue. Trolley jack and axel stands... would have been a lot easier on a pit or ramp.

I always let the old oil drain for longer than 15 minutes, just find something else to do like cleaning out airbox or vac the pollen filter. I am going to attempt an oil change on my Saab soon - it has one of those paper oil filters that fit in a canister, never done one of them before. Got some of the 0w-40 mobil 1 when it was on offer.

Lol it wasn't on offer, thats the regular price

I am the same, first job is to remove the sump plug, last job is to put it back in and fill up again

yes i could well see it would be dificult, i use a 45' long pit with lighting and air lift jacks if needed and its easy!, but i never see anything dripping out of my sump after about 10mins anyway.

Left it draining for a good half hour and another 10 after I got the filter out.

When I win the lottery, I am going to buy a BIG garage and put some ramps in and rent them out by the hour for the novice mechanics locally!
