    Default Signum front spring snapped.

    Just heard from the other half the she went to reverse the car, heard a bang and found that front spring has snapped the gone straight through the tyre.

    anyone had this happen before?

    not seen the car as I'm currently in lovely Afghan!

    All too common i am afraid, unlucky about the tyre though!

    Yep depends where the spring breaks, normally its at the top or bottom but sometimes you can be unfortunate and it hits the tyre, could have been worse she could have been driving at speed

    the springs snap all the time, probs the most common occurence with vecs, or mayby the handbrake, either way i never heard of it puncturing the tyre, must just be an unlucky place it snapped and caught the tyre,

    when u get a new tyre though check out the alloy underneath and see if it dented the actual rim, depending how forceful the snap was??

    still hey, an excuse to get decent springs now haha

    so atleast it a known fault,

    any idea roughly how much i will be looking at for a pair of springs (i assume you need to do both to stop the other one going)

    is i cheaper to get genuine vaux or uprated jobbies?

    You can get a full set of eibachs for the price of 2 VX springs about 160 quid and eibachs are obe of the best makes of spring you could fit

    Rears are really easy (if you are fitting a full set) but the fronts require spring compressors and can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.

    so rears for me to do, fronts for the garage,

    any idea how long for a garage to do the fronts with the right kit?
