    Default Rear Brakes Grrr...

    What a great weekend..

Vectra wore its rear pad out on Wednesday night.. Manged to get to work, and got a works car to use for a couple of days..

Rang Vaux Thursday morning, as the car is still under network Q -cant do it for a week and a half.

Decided that I might as well just cough and do it myself to have a working car, so popped down Thurs lunchtime, bought a disk and pad set (£85), and questioned whether it was right, cause I didn't recall the rear disks being vented. Parts guy assured me that 'the system' showed mine as being vented rear diks. Guess what? They're not..

    Friday, no progress dealer shut..

This morning, went back to dealer, who, after looking in the book, noted that there were two kits shown, and the other one was correct.. Great! I now had the bits to go the job..

Got home, started dissasembly.. **** Me, the top caliper carrier bolt is so tight.. OK, lets use the car to do the work - attach 2ft breaker bar to the bolt, axle stand under handle, and let the jack off, so the car's weight helps.. No.. Breaker bar is bowing... By now my neighbour took pity on me, and came over with a Mains Impact driver.. No good, the bu**er still won't let go..

By now, very frustrated, virtually no skin on Knuckles.. The wheel is back on. Sod it.. Vaux can have the trouble, and I'll get them to refund the disk and pad kit.. Of course, dealers are now shut until Tuesday morning.

What makes it more frustrating is that I have another car in the garage, but its in bits awaiting a respray next week.. Another month, and I wouldn't have to worry waiting for Vaux, 'cause I'll have a shiny Astra GTE to be playing with..

Anyway, I feel better now.. 'Group' thereapy seems to have worked..

jeeezzzz that must be on way to tight... have you got and penetrating spray you could soak it with for 24 hours before having another go..

I could, but TBH, I'm just gonna let Vauxhall sort it under Network Q at no cost to me.. Anyway, I've got to get the GTE ready to go in on Tuesday..

Of course, whats the betting they'll only do pads, and claim the disks are OK??

    Still, I'm calm now..

The bolts are put in using thread locking compound, they usually come out quite easily if you get a bit of heat into them with a blow torch.
