    Default eml light came on

    i was out last night and my eml light came on not the spanner light the other one , i know you can read the codes with pressing the accelerator and brake together but does anyone have a list of the codes please my car is a 2.0 t edition 100 .

    bump iv'e got code 0139 or 0138 it's one of the 2, i done it last night not been out to the car this morning .

    thanks mate , my chassis hit of the ground last night in a parking space so it may have broke the sensor i will get it on the ramp today and have a look

    as it says sensor 2 there must be more than 1 witch one will it be ?

    Sorry mate, no idea, my actual mechanical knowledge isnt that hot, I only know how to do, what I've done, from the How 2's on here, if that makes sense.

    I have a code reader and the booklet indicates that the codes are as above, but doesnt indicate what the soltion is, If you google the code, there are some sites that give probable causes and solutions.

    Sensor 1 is on the manifold in the engine bay, Sensor 2 is on the exhaust pipe after the cat. They look like spark plugs. They get very hot and can virtualy weld in possition. They can be swapped over to see if the fault moves, but its usually not the sensors that are faulty, they just measure the oxygen levels in the exhaust gas.
    I've had same problem for a while and pretty much gave up on it but I now think the egr is letting air in.
