    Default new laptop

well had to buy a new laptop today as mine just decided to pack in and was only 3 years old too. Not sure whether it had something too do with a cheap ac adaptor i was using or not?? anyway i bought a packard bell one in the end as i didnt fancy another hp one and was advised acer's arent that good, its packard bell easynote, 4gb memory 320gb hard drive, seems to be ok and a lot quicker than my previous one with double the memory in it, any one have any views on packard bell stuff? good or bad? as i say only had it one night but so far im happy with it..

hi mate, i do lot of hommers for customer that have issues with HP laptops where they just stop working, or get the blue screen of death, or just in general mess up! the laptop would pack in sooner or later!

in my opinion the one you have bought is a decent machine, as you know packard bell are very well known and many many companies use thier machines! although most favour Dell due to the durability of the components.

the problem with packard bell is the components inside like the motherboard etc are usually cheap with low fsb speeds etc, but the build quality and longativity of the laptops i have not had any big issues with them.

acer are very decent laptops again in my opinion, they started off cheap but the machines are actually really good value for money and do tend to alst well.

But dont be worried about your new machine mate, have faith! they are decent.

agree with comments so far, acer are good, Dell have become pricey lately dont buy them anymore at work for that reason, HP are good well priced, just bought 3 Sony laptops for directors with docking 8.5K, stupid money, not that special either.
What ever you buy if you get a donkey you have problems, if you get a good one you have trouble free computing,

We use HP's at work and I bought my own HP (6735s) - I love it.. Could do with some more memory though..

Previously I have experience of Fujitsu's (pretty crap, under specced and over priced), Toshiba's (not too bad, basic) and Sony's (way too overpriced and more proprietory than Apple Mac's - wouldn't touch them with a barge pole).

As long as the machine meets your requirements, I wouldn't worry about it.

I had a packard bell once, the battery lasted 3 months and they refused to exchange it. I would not have another. I only buy Dell and Acer for my family now as its easier to get the parts if i need them. My last dell laptop is still going strong at 5 years old.

If you are happy with the laptop, then dont worry what other people say. I've been building and repairing PCs and Laptops for years, and as I say to everyone, if it does what you want, then it's the machine for you.

Just to be different, I and using a Alienware laptop that I totally rebuilt about 5 months ago.... not really a laptop as it is as heavy as a small dog!!! But a good machine

what is it when the blue screen comes on? is it dead lol my screen went all like glitchy slowly covered it all then just died, wont turn on now but when i did get it on it was that "blue screen" lol... and to be honest for what i use a laptop for ie, coming on here, facebook, ebay, sky sports and downloading the odd song here n there, and printing pictures off. im sure my new laptop will be more than up2 to that, it came with adobe photoshop elements on it along with nero and a few other programmes too. Ive got the "what ever happens" cover with this one so if i was to be unfortunate and have any problems with it then it will be repaired or replaced so i dont have any worries with this one here's the link to my new one
