    Default Chrome Spray

Iv'e got Chrome (stainless steel) mirror and door handle covers, but they don't fit all the mirror/handles. I know chrome paint exists but is there anyone who has a good knowledge on this paint. You can buy it on eBay but is it really a mirror like finish?

    hi m8
its not really a diy job to get a good finish (the cans are rubbish)
you are better of going to the dealers and getting a set for about £70

agreed i attempted to chrome my mirror covers with spray - they looked great until i lacquered them and then they went very dull - you cant beat a professional finish - or the real thing

You can get a very good finish from a spray can for small parts I never understand why people struggle with it

Take the bits off prep them and then stick them in the oven on a low heat, if this is not possible just leave them in the sun or conservatory so they are warm.

Place the primer in hot water (NOT boiling) for about 10 mins before spraying

Once sprayed if possible place in a place that is inside and warm so the paint hardens (Conservatory is ideal for this)

Repeat for paint and laquer and laquer only goes dull or milky when it is sprayed in a cold or damp atmosphere

Placing the can in hot water before spraying thins the paint out, makes it easier to spray and gives a smoother coverage

I,ve used the chrome on various parts of my MK1 golf gti with really good effect and have toyed with the idea of doing my door handles like this

    How low is low?

So basically put the rimer in hot water for 10 mins, then use it.
Put the paint in hot water for 10 min then use it.
And then put laquer in hot water and then use it?
